Natural Home Remedies

“Even with all our technology and the inventions that make modern life so much easier than it once was, it takes just one big natural disaster to wipe all that away and remind us that, here on Earth, we’re still at the mercy of nature.”

Neil deGrasse Tyson

Natural Home Remedies: Make your own natural cleaning products

When you buy cleaning products from your supermarket, have a close look at the active ingredients. Do they contain chemicals that are poisonous to people and the environment? If you have any cleaning products that show sodium hypochlorite (bleach), ammonia or chlorine as an ingredient, they are all considered hazardous. These chemicals can cause damage when in contact with your skin or if you breathe in the fumes. Too much exposure could cause dizziness, breathing difficulties or headaches.

Endocrine-disrupting chemicals (EDCs) are the most problematic chemicals. EDCs are chemicals that can interfere with the body’s hormone production and therefore its ability to function normally. This can lead to a wide variety of chronic health problems. Pesticides, fungicides and plastics can contain BPA, phthalates, PCBs and dioxins which are some of the EDC chemicals. Stay well clear of these.

What is the alternative?  We discuss natural home remedies that are much gentler cleaning chemicals.  Popular home cleaning remedies often contain a mix of ingredients like vinegar, bicarb soda, lemon juice, salt or essential oils.
